What is Hadestown?
Hadestown is a Tony-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell that reimagines the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, set in a Depression-era, New Orleans-inspired landscape. Narrated by Hermes, it follows the young lovers’ tragic tale intertwined with the crumbling marriage of the gods of the underworld.
